Do you need to improve manager performance at your organization? According to Raymond E. Burch and Chris Hagen, there are three important steps to boost performance:
1. Management Practices Assessment
Assess the management practices currently in place. You could find that managers spend too much time "doing" instead of "managing." A thorough assessment can strengthen hiring, coaching, training, and mentoring programs.

2. Management Fundamentals
Do your organization's managers exercise the fundamentals of management? If the answer is no, investigate why to correct the deviation.

3. Systems-Based Management Model
Work with leadership to define and implement a systems-based model of management tailored to meet your organization's needs. Ask: What are the key skills and practices that need to be strengthened to improve performance?
