Kansas program to train nurses, aides

In Wichita, Kansas, three organizations will combine efforts and resources to help increase the number of certified nurse aides (CNAs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) trained to work in the area. Intrust Bank donated about $25,000 to pay for renovations of a classroom building on the campus of Larksfield Place, a retirement community serving as the clinical setting for training. Wichita Area Technical College will supply the classroom furnishings, lab equipment, and instructors for the program. According to the Wichita Eagle, The classroom is scheduled to open in May, and officials predict that the program will annually add 200 more CNAs and 20 LPNs to the workforce. Currently, there are 11 LPNs and 56 CNAs employed at Larksfield Place.
