One of the simplest tools to implement successful change is Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). If your discussions with the executive team lead to you suggesting a pilot study, then use this tool to plan. The PDSA process encourages rapid incremental improvements in cost and quality outcomes. Sometimes we spend so long planning formal changes that we miss the opportunity for, as well as the immediate value from, the change. PDSA facilitates movement and results in the opportunity to see quick wins or when a change might not be a good fit for your unit or organization and needs to be stopped.
