Major hospitals in Hawaii are collaborating to launch a nurse residency program that aims to help new graduate nurses with the difficult transition from school to practice and to keep them in the profession of nursing.
The nurse residency program will launch in the summer and is funded by the Hawaii State Center for Nursing. The new graduates will be hired by the individual hospitals participating in the initiative and the new nurses will spend between six and 12 months in the nurse residency program.
