Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems, Inc. has released a new website for healthcare professionals to provide customizable tools geared to educate providers and patients about preventing surgical site infections (SSI) in hopes that it will reduce the 500,000 cases of SSIs that occur each year.

The customizable toolkit includes general information for patients about how to initiate meaningful conversations with care providers, how to prepare for surgery, and what signs to look for after surgery that may signal an impending SSI. The toolkit also includes resources for healthcare providers to help create awareness among staff and clinicians of important processes and practices that can prevent SSIs. Health plans and employers can select tools that are most relevant to their organization, and can add their affiliation logo to the tools.
