What is a just culture principle document, and what should it include?

A just culture principle document in essence articulates quite clearly the organization’s commitment to ensuring that a just culture is deeply values by the organization and describes the components of the just culture principle, such as education, consistency, communication, and commitment to continuous performance improvement and patient safety. This document needs to be shares throughout the organization and incorporated into every aspect of daily operations, reflected in the preface of every policy and procedure, and communicated at every educational opportunity, in both formal presentations as well as informally at town meetings, during walk-arounds, and whenever the opportunity presents itself, leaving no doubt of its importance to those most responsible for ensuring that the just culture principle is a true strategic priority.
