In the news: Nursing Image Award winners announced
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, November 22, 2010
This week, HCPro, Inc. announced the winners of the 2010 Nursing Image Awards, which recognize nurses and nurse leaders who have helped elevate the image of nursing through exceptional leadership, teamwork, or clinical accomplishments.
The winner of the award for clinical excellence is Rebecca Schorn, RN, BSN, nurse clinical level IV in the PICU at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. Shorn was honored for embodying a positive image of nursing through clinical excellence, and for being a role model and mentor to other nurses.
The winner of the award for leadership excellence is Karen S. Hill, DNP, MSN, CNAA, BC, FACHE, vice president/chief nursing executive, Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, KY. Hill was honored for embodying a positive image of nursing that has created a vision for caring and nursing excellence at her organization.
Runners up in the clinical category are Jean Leddy, RN, CMSRN, BS, clinical care leader on the medical-surgical specialty services unit at St. Francis Medical Center, Midlothian, VA, and Vonnie Rosemary, RN-BC, chair of the clinical improvement team at The Birthing Center at Memorial Hospital at Easton, MD.
Runners up in the leadership category are Carlo A. Piraino, RN, MSN, CMSRN, NE-BC, federal recovery coordinator at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX, and Margaret Fisher, MSN, RN, director, operations and supervision, from Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, New York, NY.
