Nurses at 14 Minnesota hospitals have finally reached an agreement that will preserve nurses' pensions, health benefits and salaries, bringing to a close a three-month battle for both hospital officials and nurses. The nurses had originally held a one-day strike on June 10 and were planning another strike sometime in July.
Hospital officials representing the 14 Twin Cities hospitals released a statement saying: "We are eager to re-focus on the collaborative approach with our nurses that has made our hospitals some of the most innovative in the country."
Many nurses at the hospitals were relieved they did not have to strike again. Lori Flesland, a nurse at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, ran to hug her boss when she heard the great news.
