In the news: Despite shortage, some nurses struggle to secure jobs
Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, May 31, 2010
In some regions of the U.S., nursing graduates are having a difficult time finding jobs, according to ABC News.
According to The American Association of Colleges of Nursing, colleges in Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and California have reported that there seems to be more nursing graduates than jobs, despite projections of nationwide nursing shortages.
Mass layoffs and hiring freezes are part of the problem. According to the Minnesota Hospital Association, hospitals in the state slashed more than 2,200 positions since the fall of 2008.
