In the news: Canadian study looks at nursing quality at designated hospitals
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, May 14, 2010
Rural Canadian hospitals share a common problem: retention of health professionals. In an effort to look for ways to improve retention of quality nursing staff, a new study has examined ANCC Magnet Recognition Program (MRP) ® designated hospitals and the effect designation has on nurse satisfaction and retention.
The study finds that while management support and nurse/manager relations ranked high on nurse satisfaction requirements, nurses participating in the survey had a low opinion of management at their current facilities. They also ranked the ability to work professionally and autonomously high among factors contributing to job satisfaction.
