Inside best practice: Review the course and set guidelines
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 5, 2010
Editor’s note: the following is an excerpt from an article by Tammy L. Berbarie, BA, RN, RN-BC, is the accreditation coordinator at Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital in Dallas.
We decided to re-evaluate our MRP team to ensure we had all the right team players. Our team needed to represent various nurses and interdisciplinary team members across our organization. We included at least one of the following from within the organization: preceptor, charge nurse, educator, council chairs/co-chair, advance practice nurse, nurse leader, administration, interdisciplinary team member, and interdisciplinary leader.
In addition, I also needed to re-evaluate the special talents that I had on my team. It is imperative that you know where your team’s hidden talents are so you can call on a team member to assist you in the documentation process. This included recognizing team members who have some or more of the following strengths: Writing skills, computer skills, or organizational and communication skills.
