In the news: Program gives nurses WINGS
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, March 15, 2010
A new program by ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) designated Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka Kansas aims at critical thinking, preparation, and reasoning for its nurses. The program, WINGS (Week of Intense Nurse Graduate Simulation) combines individual interviews about the nurse’s strengths, fears, and weaknesses with a series of challenging simulations.
RNs attend the training for five days and LPNs attend for three days.
According to program director Chip Marker, RN, the program was initially designed for new nurses—but when more experienced nurses were brought in to test the program, organizers realized that nurses of all levels of experience could benefit from the program
