In the know: Keep motivation up
Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, March 15, 2010
In nursing school, it's easy to overdo it. You get burned out and lose our motivation. You are under tremendous pressure. The payoff is not immediate, so the reward for your struggles can appear to be perpetually out of reach. There may come a time when you feel so stressed out, you are ready to give up.
At a crossroads like this, take a time out. Focus on why you are doing this—remember your reasons for applying to nursing school in the first place. Think about what nursing means to you. Remember what it was all about at the beginning—making a difference in people's lives. Being a healer. Proving to yourself that you could do it.
Look forward—keep your focus on graduation day, the pinning ceremony, getting your license, finding your dream job, saving lives. Your heart is in nursing—don't lose sight of that. It's hard work now, but is so worth it.
