Schmidt has been involved in helping colleagues achieve certification since early 1992. As a National Nursing Staff Development Organization (NNSDO) board member—and later as the organization’s president—Schmidt worked with NNSDO to develop and offer a certification preparation course. She teaches about four preparation courses per year and has noticed an increased interest in certification over the past decade.
