Inside the program: Preparing for the site visit
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 21, 2009
If your organization has been informed its documents have earned a score within the range of excellence, the next step is to schedule a site visit. The visit is conducted by the same appraisers who evaluate your documents.
Most site visits are two days (but this varies depending on size of the organization) and require two appraisers or as many as three for large facilities.
Here are some major projects to accomplish before the site visit:
- Coordinate date of site visit and travel arrangements with appraisers
- Display public announcements as required by the MRP Office
- Collect and organize all required documents for appraiser(s) to review during visit
- Hold fairs and educational sessions for all employees
- Have round-the-clock meetings and mock surveys to practice
