Evidence-based practice: Staff nurses investigate better patient care through research projects

The council meets once per month for four hours, and membership is voluntary. Members are from a range of service lines, including emergency, medical, surgical, cardiovascular, oncology, women and children, and behavioral health departments.
The council does not limit attendance to members, but invites people from any department who have an interest in learning about EBP and research or sharing their knowledge.
March says attendees are committed and enthusiastic. "It's pretty fascinating to see how excited staff nurses are about working on research projects," she says. "They are thirsty for more!"
