In the news: Australians tab nursing as most honest profession

Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, June 15, 2009

Down under, nursing is on top.

The Australian public views nursing as the most honest and ethical job in the country, according to the recently released Roy Morgan Image of Professions Survey. Eighty-nine percent of those polled ranked it as No. 1. It's the 15th year in a row nurses have been ranked on top since they joined the survey in 1994. Pharmacists came in second at 84% and physicians were third with 82%.

School teachers and dentists rounded out the top five, while car salesmen, advertisers, and newspaper journalists were at the bottom. In total, 23 fields dropped in the public's view, the largest decline ever recorded in the survey.
