Incorporating EBP into staff development is an ongoing process that requires you to consider the advantages and barriers, as well as the ethical and legal implications. The advantages of EBP include the potential to improve staff development practice, job performance, and patient outcomes. But once implemented, EBP clarifies successes and weaknesses and requires educators to adhere to a high standard of program delivery that is under constant, objective scrutiny. Ethical and legal problems Educators must gather evidence to support ethical and legal decisions. Possible ethical situations include identifying staff members who are not able to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and effective patient care, such as failure to achieve advanced cardiac life support
