EBP in staff development requires a continual analysis of healthcare practices. Such analysis necessitates development of a concise and efficient system of data collection.
There are numerous sources from which data can be retrieved. Data are gathered from needs assessments, informal conversations, risk management and quality improvement data, and competency statements.
Each education department has a somewhat different process for collecting data. This process is not always as efficient as it should be.
