Inside best practice: Collect praise to boost morale
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 14, 2009
Boost morale when nurses reach the “oversaturated” stage by having everyone write down one compliment or one thing they admire about their peers. Collect the papers with the compliments and distribute them to the staff.
You can conduct this during staff meetings, while walking rounds during a shift, or by posting a memo on the unit bulletin board. Encourage nurses to keep their “notes” in a folder or book as an instant way to boost morale on days when they are feeling down and need to know how their team feels about them.
