Inside best practice: Set a solid foundation for success on the journey
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 7, 2009
As the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) coordinator, your role and responsibilities can be intense during your organization’s journey toward designation. Meryl Montgomery, MSN, RN, MRP director at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, provides three best practices to remember as you begin your role as MRP coordinator:
- Keep your ear and heart close to bedside nurses, nursing directors, and the CNO. Keep them updated throughout the journey.
- Know your resources and contacts. They will be invaluable to you as you proceed on your journey. This includes knowing the updated application manual and standards thoroughly.
- Start a relationship with another MRP coordinator. This will allow you to share and receive advice and help ensure a successful journey.
Editor’s note: Do you have a best practice you would like to share? E-mail them to associate editor Cameran Erny at cerny@hcpro.com and see your name in print!
