The color purple is popping up nearly everywhere at Rochester (NY) General Hospital. From bookmarks and mouse pads to buttons and the wrappers around Hershey® Kisses, staff nurses see the color wherever they look.


“Our nursing logo is ‘Passionate About Nursing,’ so our [ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP)] champions branded designation with the color purple, because purple reminded us of passion,” says Trish Koops, BSN, RN, CCRN, CSC, MRP champion and a clinical leader in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU) at Rochester. “Every time we see something purple, we think of [MRP designation].”
