Inside the program: Hold practice conferences to prepare staff for the site visit
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, March 31, 2009
Before your organization’s site visit, the appraisers will send you an outline of activities they need to complete and groups with whom they need to meet. You’ll then create an agenda based on their needs. Complete the agenda in time to practice group interviews for a couple of weeks.
Practice conferences can be effective in the following areas:
- Evidence-based practice/nursing research
- Professional development
- Nurse-sensitive quality indicators
- Interdisciplinary communication
Ask the staff members specific questions related to each of these topics. Participants should take notes and identify points they want to stress if that question or a similar question is posed during the actual site visit from an appraiser.
