In the news: Web site shares nurses’ recommendations for top docs
Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, March 2, 2009
Nurses know upon entering the profession that they will work in close quarters with physicians. And, as long as they stay in the profession, they will also be a living physician referral service for family, friends, and even acquaintances.
A new Web site will help take off some of the responsibility.
JustAskANurse.net allows users to search though a database housing nurses' experiences of working with physicians to make their decision. According to Deb Ciampa, nurse and cocreator of the Web site, it is the first to let licensed nurses make posts anonymously. In addition, the site ranks physicians based on the number of recommendations issued by nurses logging on.
The Web site, which was developed in June 2008, currently offers information on physicians in the Northeast region of the U.S. Several Massachusetts nursing associations have endorsed it.
