Inside best practice: Save time by registering at the bedside

To avoid delays at the ER front entrance registration desk, staff nurses at Morton Plant Mease Health Care in Dunedin, FL—an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® redesignation recipient in 2008—conduct bedside registration.
Patients relay their name, date of birth, Social Security number, and medical and insurance information, which is entered into the hospital’s system so physicians can quickly access the information online when assessing the patient.
