Inside the news: Pennsylvania hospital receives $25,000 prize for positive innovations
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, November 18, 2008
For the sixth year in a row, a Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) hospital was recognized by the ANCC for creating innovations that improve the work environment. Abington (PA) Memorial Hospital was awarded $25,000 from Cerner Corporate—a health information technology company.
The Magnet [Recognition Program®] Prize was awarded during the 2008 ANCC National MRP Conference in Salt Lake City, which took place on October 15-17. Abington Memorial—a 2008 MRP redesignation recipient—was recognized for its Daily CARE Plan. The Daily CARE Plan is a patient information sheet that lists medications the patient is taking, tests and procedures scheduled for the day, allergies, etc. Patients and their families are given this sheet every day to encourage them to take part in their plan of care.
Abington Memorial will use the $25,000 prize money to enhance the Daily CARE Plan (e.g., translate and print the plan in different languages to meet all its patients’ needs).
