Hoping to improve the healthcare available to residents of northwestern New Jersey, Warren County Community College and Hackettstown Regional Medical Center have partnered to launch construction of a $20 million regional health education center.
The health education center, which will be built on five acres of the medical center campus, will not only serve those looking to enter the healthcare profession, but also those already in the industry seeking professional development. Hospital officials said giving healthcare professionals increased opportunities to continue their education will help attract and retain the area's healthcare professionals.
In addition, college and hospital officials say the project will meet five goals for Warren County:
-
Address projected shortages of healthcare professionals
-
Train and retain local residents to meet those needs
-
Improve regional healthcare
-
Enhance economic status in the region
-
Create a model operation from which other colleges and hospitals can benefit
