HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, November 4, 2008
Shared governance unit councils at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN) in Allentown, PA, continually address key components to help staff make decisions about their practice. To ensure council members drive decisions and actions, LVHHN’s unit councils all comply with the following seven components:
- Define purpose, authority, and decision-making structure
- List council functions
- List membership guidelines
- List when meetings take place
- List agenda points
- Describe meeting minutes
- Describe communication methods between council and unit staff
