In the know: Get a system--and get on your way to organized
Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, October 27, 2008
Staying organized is without a doubt one of the most important things you can do to succeed in nursing school. This doesn't mean scheduling every minute of the day or trying to maintain a sophisticated alphanumeric file system. It simply means developing a consistent method to categorize and store information. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Code it: Color-code notebooks, files, and folders for each course (e.g., green for biology, red for anatomy). This will make it easier to grab the right materials in a rush.
File it: Create a file folder for each course. After every unit exam, place all notes, handouts, returned assignments, quizzes, and tests in this folder. This way, everything you need will be handy for midterms and finals.
Date it: Put the date and corresponding chapter on all your notes, handouts, and tapes. This helps keep things in order, and finding information later will be a breeze.
