In the news: Nursing organizations release advertisement on McCain’s health
Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, October 6, 2008
A new ad highlighting the health of Republican presidential candidate John McCain recently hit the media. It features a list of controversies surrounding Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the sound of a female vocalist crooning about the "achin" heart of McCain, and the reality that Palin could be "one heartbeat away" from leading the country.
The National Nurses Organizing Committee (NNOC) and California Nurses Association released the 30-second advertisement last week. The ad ran for two days—on a six-figure budget—in Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado, and Missouri last week, and may expand, according to the NNOC.
The ad was timed to coincide with a report by Bragg Associates, an actuary firm, which says the 72-year-old McCain would have a 25% chance of dying in his second semester in office.
