HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, September 23, 2008
The pressure on healthcare organizations to improve patient care is rising. And El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA, is taking action.
El Camino—an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® recipient in 2005—recently selected Microsoft Amalga Hospital Information System to collect and monitor its patient data. The hospital is investing in Microsoft Amalga to achieve its three-year goal of earning a top 5% ranking among hospitals nationwide throughout all of its service lines The new software will enable the hospital to aggregate, view, and analyze its patient care data to:
- Identify areas for patient care improvement
- Identify areas for performance improvement within groups and individual staff members
- Benchmark progress against the goals set for the three-year initiative
El Camino also plans to use Microsoft Amalga when it moves into its new acute care facility in July 2009. The software will collect and display data on admitted patients to help El Camino improve the quality and efficiency of the hospitals operation.
