Inside the news: Ready, set, read: The new ANCC manual is almost here
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, September 9, 2008
Many healthcare organizations have been waiting for several months to thumb through the 2008 ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® Manual. The wait is over—almost.
The 2008 manual will be released in September, but you can preorder it now on the ANCC’s Web site. A few changes to the manual include:
- Initial applicants need to document only 88 sources of evidence, and redesignation applicants need to document only 60. In the past, both needed to document 164 sources.
- A two-year data collection requirement for patient satisfaction, nurse satisfaction, and nurse-sensitive quality indicators. The 2005 manual required one year of data collection for each.
- A chapter dedicated to site visit preparation tips and activities
The 2008 manual will go into effect October 1, 2009 for all applicants and designated organizations. The last date for applicants to submit under the 2005 manual is August 1, 2009.
