As a nurse manager, you see the brunt of staffing problems firsthand. Your chance to improve them may be in the mail.

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) is conducting its third national workforce study—this time taking aim at nurse staffing issues in the emergency department (ED). Randomly selected hospital EDs will receive two complementary surveys in the mail to be completed by September 30th: one to be filled out by the ED nurse manager and one by the ED medical director. The ACEP urges other ED staff members to take the survey, as well.

The intent of the study is to examine the status of the emergency medicine workforce in the United States. The data collected from the survey will support ACEP's discussions with legislators, government officials, regulatory agencies, and the media about workforce issues.
