Inside the Forces: Help staff get comfortable speaking to appraisers
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, September 2, 2008
You can’t script the responses staff will give to appraisers during your ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® site visit, but you can prepare them to be comfortable during the interactions. You can begin by holding a conference in-house regarding the 14 Forces of Magnetism. Stress that this conference is risk-free and encourage participants to express any questions or misgivings they may have regarding the program.
When participants arrive for the conference, provide them with a list of possible questions appraisers may ask related to the 14 Forces of Magnetism along with answers. Make sure participants can speak on how they have incorporated the Forces of Magnetism into practice. If they can’t speak to this, allow for an open discussion to take place.
Participants should take notes and identify points they want to stress if that question or a similar question is posed during the actual site visit.
