A recent hospital poll revealed that recruitment, retention, and electronic health records (EHRs) are at the top of pressing concerns for healthcare workers, according to The Wall Street Journal's MarketWatch.

The poll was conducted by Picis, a provider of information solutions for the acute care hospital setting. By surveying more than 300 nurses, physicians, and hospital administrators from facilities across North America during the annual Picis Exchange conference in Palm Beach, FL this summer, researchers were able to obtain insight into the most critical concerns affecting the healthcare world. "Physician and nurse recruiting and retention" was listed as the most pressing fear during the next 12 months, beating the economy and Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement cuts.

The rollout of EHRs was listed as the second biggest concern, raising questions on how government-funded EHR initiatives will affect hospital technology.
