A Maryland nursing school is instituting new steps in educating students to help fight the growing shortage.

Salisbury (MD) University has kicked off a new "RN to Master's" program that provides an easier way for RNs with associate degrees to make the leap to graduate studies Bypassing some of the traditional bachelor degree requirements, the program will use flexible scheduling and new training technology, such as distance learning, to accommodate working nurses who wish to further their education without forgoing their job or income.

The goal of the program is to fight the state's nursing shortage while also expanding the capacity of existing bachelor's degree programs.
