Inside the Forces: Highlight nurses in a positive way
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, August 12, 2008
ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designated organizations—or those on the journey—often pursue numerous strategies to improve and showcase Force of Magnetism 12: Image of nursing in a positive way. It’s important to highlight your nurses in a positive light as they are an integral part of the hospital’s ability to provide patient care.
One strategy to showcase your nurses in a positive light is through the hospital’s newsletter. Organizational newsletters can include sections on nurse accomplishments and the department of nursing should be vigilant that each issue provides a positive view of the organization’s nurse accomplishments.
Many departments of nursing also publish nursing newsletters. These should include notable nurse accomplishments and profiles of staff nurses. They can also be used to discuss nurses’ attendance at conferences and any poster presentations or publications by the organization’s nurses.
These newsletters should be posted where patients, families, and other healthcare providers can read them and see nurses’ accomplishments.
