Inside the Forces: Tent cards highlight the 14 Forces of Magnetism
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 29, 2008
When it’s time to conduct an inservice to nursing and nonnursing staff on the 14 Forces of Magnetism, it doesn’t have to be boring. At Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC) in Philadelphia—an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® redesignation recipient in 2004—nursing leaders displayed each of the Forces on a tabletop using tent cards that highlighted the Force and examples/pictures of how FCCC demonstrates that Force.
One nursing leader or MRP champion was placed at each Force station (table) to describe the Force, explain FCCC’s special projects/examples, and ask sample site-visit questions. The event gave staff an opportunity to see the Forces in action and to discuss other examples of how the institution met the Force. Staff received a sign-off sheet for each station they visited, and after stopping at all 14 tables, they were eligible for prize drawings.
