Inside best practice: Use this tip to better acquaint mentors and mentees
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 22, 2008
Successful mentorships are structured, one-to-one partnerships that focus on the professional and psychosocial needs of the mentee within the context of a collegial relationship. So to help mentors and mentees become better acquainted, have each one answer the following four questions. Once they have thoroughly answered the questions, provide each individual with the other’s answers.
- What do you hope to gain from this mentoring relationship?
- What do you bring to this mentoring relationship?
- What nonnursing interests or hobbies do you have?
- In what professional nursing organizations do you actively participate?
