Inside the news: Hospital of excellence set to rise in Dubai

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 1, 2008

The University Hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, will open in early 2011, and become the first hospital in the Middle East to model the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® principles.

Now under construction, the facility will embrace the program’s principles by implementing a center for nursing excellence that will focus on improving nursing care, education, and research in the region.

The idea to model a hospital after the program’s principles began in May with a forum that involved more than 400 nurses and healthcare professionals from the United States and the Middle East. The attendees discussed the Magnet Recognition Program® principles and how to incorporate them into the new organization.
