Physicians, nurses, and other staff members at a New Jersey hospital used fun events and educational materials to connect to local neighborhoods during the facility's first ever Community Day.
The grounds at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, N.J., were strewn with 40 booths featuring education on nursing, maternity, and other clinical departments. Screening programs were also made available to community members, such as cholesterol and blood pressure testing. Additionally, festivities-including a 5K race and tours of emergency equipment-helped both children and adults to connect with the hospital in an entertaining environment.
The success of the Community Day has inspired Ocean Medical to continue on the tradition for years to come. They see the event as a way to establish relationships with local residents and educate them about the hospital's various specialties and departments.
