Vermont hospital earns quality care honor

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 10, 2008

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in Bennington, VT, is among four rural hospitals to receive a 2007 Excellence Through Insight Award for the Highest Community Perception of Quality from HealthStream Research. HealthStream Research—which collects and analyzes data to help healthcare organizations make performance improvement decisions—conducted more than 500 telephone surveys with SVMC’s customers regarding the quality of care they received during their hospital stay.

The award is based on a five-point scale and SVMC—an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) redesignation recipient in 2006—received a quality care score of 4.07. According to SVMC spokeswoman Dianne Cutillo, the average score for a hospital is 3.51.

HealthStream Research will recognize all award winners in September during the HealthStream Summit in Nashville, TN.
