To provide care to residents in remote parts of Maine, state nursing students trekked to Chebeague Island and set up a medical clinic for island residents.

Students from the University of Southern Maine in Portland headed the one-day clinic, which provided services ranging from blood pressure screenings to tetanus shots. About 30 people came to the clinic to take advantage of the services. Residents were required to pay for any shots they received, but all of the health screenings were provided for free.

The clinic was especially beneficial since, due to the isolated area, islanders can find it challenging to get medical attention and assistance.
