Using the intranet for easy access

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 8, 2008

It's important for staff nurses to have access to the policies and procedures that affect the quality of practice because autonomous practice using problem-solving and critical thinking requires the necessary resources and the availability of those resources to staff nurses. Therefore, clinical pathway protocols, and nursing policies and procedures must be accessible.

If a staff nurse needs to know about performance indicators or the unit's policy and procedures for collecting data, these items could easily be displayed on the intranet under performance improvement indicators.
