14 Forces of Magnetism cake walk
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 8, 2008
One way the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA, keeps nurses up to date on the 14 Forces of Magnetism is with help from music and treats. The 2005 ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) recipient regularly holds a Force of Magnetism cake walk to recognize and reward its nurses.
The cake walk involves 14 large laminated cards--each featuring a Force--that are placed on the ground, after which music plays and nurses walk along the cards until the music stops. Once the music stops, nurses must stand on a Force, while a nurse who is not participating in the game, selects a question from a bucket. Each question relates to a Force and the nurse standing on that Force must answer the question. Those who answer correctly, get to choose a delicious treat from a table full of candy, chocolate, and of course cake.
