Preparing to celebrate nurses
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 1, 2008
Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND--an organization pursuing ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation--is eagerly anticipating Nurses Week since they plan to hold celebrations on each day of the week. The celebration activities are coordinated by the professional nurse committee (PNC), which consists of nurse representatives from Altru's units and clinics.
The following activities will take place during Nurses Week, celebrated from May 6-12, 2008:
Monday: A nursing proclamation will be given by the mayor of Grand Forks.
Tuesday: A hall of fame ceremony will be held, including a brunch, to honor a current nurse or a past employee who have made a significant contribution to nursing. There will also be a scholarship fund of $5,000 divided up amongst nurses who are pursuing further education in nursing and who have applied for the scholarship.
Wednesday: Popcorn will be distributed to the entire organization.
Thursday: A lunch will be held for all dayshift RNs, LPNs, and APNs (nightshift receives supper) with donated gifts handed out by PNC members.
Friday: The PNC will deliver candy to all the nurses throughout the system.
