A recent study at an Illinois school outlines the characteristics of patients who are likely-and unlikely-to successfully manage their prescription medications.

The study was conducted by Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) in Bloomington, IL. Researchers studied a group of older adults to assess what problems they might have managing their medications. Results suggested that adults who lead more orderly, organized lives tend to be most successful at medication management and are least likely to take their medication incorrectly.

Additionally, the study found that adults who established a consistent routine often viewed medication as a part of their overall wellness and successfully integrated medication into their lives.
