Win the designation bee
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, March 11, 2008
Remember spelling bees from your school days? Bring the "bee" back to prepare your organization for ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) designation. The MRP bee game will help participants learn designation-related terms, nursing facts, and other valuable material. And remember, the goal is to be the last one standing.
Have the participants stand in line across the front of a meeting room or the cafeteria. A host (e.g., a representative from leadership) asks each participant one question at a time. If a participant answers correctly, he or she goes to the end of the line. If a participant answers incorrectly, he or she is eliminated. The host then asks a question of the next participant. The host continues asking questions until only one person, who has answered all of his or her questions correctly, is left standing. That person is known as the Bee Queen or King. Reward the winner with a prize, such as a large jar of honey--a suitable award for winning this title.
Note: Turn this into a tournament by having the winners of departmental MRP bees compete in an organizationwide tournament. Post the photos of departmental winners in the cafeteria or on the intranet.
