Five Texas nursing schools shut down by state
Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, March 3, 2008
Students who had put time, effort, money, and dreams into nursing schools in North Texas were left empty-handed last week after the state shut down five learning institutions.
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) received complaints from the Texas Board of Nursing and acted promptly with "cease and desist" orders. IF Tech of Rio Grande City, Esther Medical Tutorial & Nursing Review Center, Vocational Training Education Center, Career Advanced Medical Clinic and Training, and Merit Excellence Institute were all cited as non-compliant with state requirements. Students who were attending those schools are not eligible to sit for the nursing license exam.
TWC officials are urging students to make sure a school is licensed before enrolling. For a list of career schools that are in compliance, click here.
