To provide students with opportunities to pursue nursing careers, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) has awarded more than $2.7 million to RN training programs at 18 schools.
The awards ranged from $80,000 to $365,000 and were made available through the Song-Brown program, which is administered by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development. Since 2003, the Song-Brown program has awarded close to $29 million to health profession education and training programs throughout California.
Gov. Schwarzenegger said that these awards are part of his commitment to address California's nursing shortage by expanding programs and increasing the state's supply of qualified nurses.
